well i have had the panel 4 weeks today, she had been sitting -up for 28 years,i have put new plugs, wires, new brakes, new fuel-pump,had the radiator shop boil out gas tank (line in tanks was stopped up), they also used the red pour in lineing the tank, went on my first road test,,,,it went about one mile and cut off starving for gas????i took the gas line alose from tank added my plastic tank with rubber gas line had it hanging off the side of the truck, runs fine, come back hame blow air dowm thur tank with air hose (did not hear bubbling noise) but i did hold my hand over neck and air was coming out of gas neck, test ride 2 same distance +/-, put plastic tank hook-up and drove home, took gas line from tank out again, put air hose in filler neck with a rag so i could blow air in the tank, air came out the line in the tank(kinda a spray........

Working with the original tanks even if steam cleaned to the point that you think are clean there always seens to be some residual in the tank that causes problems. A full tank will have less problems than a 1/2 tank of gas. The 1/2 tank will slosh around more and get dirt in the line. I appear to have finally solved this by installing a perma-cool water/gas filter under the tank on the inside of the frame. Supposed to be a 2 micron filter and the filter has a water drain on the bottom. The cheapest place I have found them in in the Whitney Catalogue. They come with mountng brackets & Hoses. I did have to get some brass fittings to finish up. Make sure you put some thread sealer on the fittings & don't use the thread tape.

How much gas did you put in the tank after getting it back in? It sounds out of gas. Maybe there wasn't enough, or it leaked out?

First thing to try is to add some and see if it starts. Then see if it leaks out anywhere.

When the radiator shop "boils" a tank out, they normally check for leaks by doing a pressure test.

Putting gas in and checking for leaks is the last thing I'd want to do eek . But hey, what do I know, I like rope burns grin .
