I'm looking to buy a 64-66 with a 6 cyl & man. trans. Is there anything that I should be aware of in the way of an engine? I don't want a v8. Is a 235 better/worse than a 250? What all sizes of engines origally came in these trucks? Thanks in advance for any comments/help.

The 235 was no-more in 63. They came with 230's and 250's as well as an option for 327's in 66. Their may have been 292's and 283's but Im not sure about those. Hope I was some help.

yeah 63 was the last of the 235's, 64-66 woulda had 230, 292 as standard, or 283 as the optional V8 - the 250 and 327 options for trucks started in 66 - and 67 was last year for 283's

I currently own a 235 in my 62, 3/4 ton, Chevy. I had a 71, Pontiac with a 250. I think that the 250 is a better motor. It has more power and is more reliable. I almost never had to lift the hood on my 250. My 235 is a different story.
