Ok I bought 1961 Suburban, mounted on the pasengers side of the firewall there is this black box. I haven't gotten the truck home yet so investigation is only through pictures at this time. I'm thinking that it's heater core maybe. But it is nothing that I have seen before after many months of looking that these trucks on the web I've not seen this before. It almost looks like and Air Conditioning unit. Please some one confirm the Subject title. "I'm an IDIOT" I can't seem to get a picture to post in here but will be happy to send it to anyone willing to confirm the above....
Thanks,
Mark

He meant it's one of those new retro-fit government "black boxes" that keep tabs on everything you do inside the vehicle...how many miles you drive, how much gas you use, emissions, etc. to make sure you're paying enough taxes and not speeding.
Haven't seen one of those on the old trucks.

either that or it's the Delux heater box.

welcome to the 'bolt... i'd guess it was the heater box too... or a voltage regulator, they are usually black.

Another quality post.

If it is a heater box the size of a regulator box then you are in for some cold feet! If it is a regulator the size of a heater box then you have some mighty big power available!

I have been under my '67 panel too long...

OK to throw a wrench in the works. Say it's a deluxe heater. If a guy were wanting to run vintage air setup on the truck is there any problems? I mean would I have to convert the deluxe heater or should I say delete the heater to run the vintage air setup? I'm trying to figure out how all of the components are going to fit in the same area. I mean all of the vintage air components that i've seen mount and fit right at the heater area.

Any thoughts or Ideas? Remember my truck it's here yet....Wednesday... it's going to be here wednesday....

Thanks for all the good info folks....
