I have a '52 suburban: my question is the handle on the barn doors! Is it a push button or pull down handle?? The handle on there now is a pull down but the handles on the doors are push button... any help!!!

Thanks
Wayne

The rear door handle is the same on 1948/1955 it is a flip doen handle. It is similar to the 1948/51 truck door handle by shape, but the shaft and bezel is different. Modification to the truck door handle is possible, but it is better to find an original rear door handle and have it chromed.

Thanks George, from looking in the books i could see that the 48/51 handles looked closed but was not sure.. the bezel did look a little thinner on the truck handlle. i guess now would be a good time to ask does anyone have one for sale??

Do you have the original handle? If so do not throw it away! As I said before, the front door handle can be modified to fit the rear door. I hate seeing those pieces being thrown away. The bezel for the front doors have a taper to fit the right and left side, whereas the rear door does not have the taper, it is flat.

George don't worry it won't get thrown away.. I took all the stock stuff off of it and was thinking about throwing most of it away before i found this site and so far i've helped a couple guys with some parts..

Keep the handle and bezel (escutcheon?) together. I had two sets from different years and the location of the handle-shafts pin-holes and the barrel in bezel/escutcheon were different.
