The Stovebolt Site Forums The Parking Lot Panels 'N Burbs Seat Hold Down Hardware question

I've got a '62 Suburban, with a full-width rear seat.
The seat came with ONE original fastener set, the others were all lost.
It's pretty basic; carriage bolts, wing nuts and lock washers. What isn't basic is the little block that goes between the wing nut and the tubing of the seat frame.
I'll have zero problem reproducing these. However, I'm interested if anyone knows what these blocks are made of. After coming back from the sand blaster, the block looks bright and brassy. It isn't steel.
Anyone know why they would have made them from brass, rather than steel? Is it actually brass?

The hardware looks just like what someone else posted in another thread, from their AD Suburban, so it doesn't look like they changed it a whole lot over the years. Anyone know if that is in fact the case?
Does anyone else need any of these while I'm making mine?

Brad, I welded a bent flat washer to a reg. flat washer for mine. It works but is pretty ugly & my fab skills run more toward function than form. I really don't like the looks of them but mine came w/none to use for a pattern, I only had a drawing from the assembly manual. Maybe it is some sort of bronze or brass? I could use some that look better. Brian

It so happens I was talkkin with a couple of truck buddies about these last night. I may be in terested in some of these for my 52 Burb. How are you gonna make these? I am curiuos? I was gonna use steel tube and slice it off to the same thickness and drill a hole. Then do any fine touch up work and paint. You can use elevator bolts from the hardware store and the wing nuts too.
