Can anyone post a picture of the seats in a Suburban, I was given 2 Subs this week from some ranchers out in this part of the country. One is off of the frame, sittin on its bottom, pretty rough, been shot up, but some good parts. Pulled the heater out of it last night. The frame is complete with the runnin boards still there. The other one has had the runnin gear taken out from under it, but it is blocked up off of the ground, didnt see much rusted out. Both still have the rear clam shells, of course the cows rubbed off the little swingin light yall talk about. Windows are all still in the one that is blocked up so the inside looks good, still has rubber floor mat. Neither one has front fenders or grill, but radiator support is still there. Are the front fenders and hood and stuff the same as a pickup? These look to be a 49 and 50. Guess Im gonna have to drag them in.

Chevy Shelly,

Sounds like you have made a great find.

The Suburban and 1/2 ton pickup shared the same frame/chassis and almost all parts (interior and exterior) from the cab doors forward (except for the front seats and floor directly under the seats). The running boards (and the drive train) are the same.

Drag them in.

Front
Back

Burb Seats...the front seat(s) is a re-upholstered AD seat...the middle and rear seats are from a TF Burb.. seat sizes for a TF middle and rear are the same as an AD and fit perfectly.

Peg,

I had a similar seat in my '48 panel in 1969. You show a pick-up which has a back stop and seat frame on the floor. In a panel truck (and similarly in a suburban), driving from stop is quite exciting on the smooth floor (stopping was not bad, however - you have the steering wheel to stop your body).

Mike's custom seat that you show is not a captain' chair - that is a higher cost option which has arms.

I passed inspection two times (in VA) before it was suggested that the chair be attached to the floor (no joke).

Tim,

No kidding. Virginia let you get away with that? That was still in '69? If so, that would 'splain a lot of things. Virginia has got a bit "uppity" over the last ten years it seems. It seems once Northern VA started to grow, lots of things started to get weird.

Ha -- yes, I shouldn't have called it a "captain's chair." I'd like to see a picture of Steve's 5-gallon bucket!! What would we call that? Oh .. yes -- BUCKET SEAT!!!!

Too funny grin
