Does anyone have any pictures, documentation or any dimensional/design info on the optional roof/luggage rack that was available from GM for AD Suburbans?

My uncle used to have an Art Deco panel with a rack, but I don't recall every seeing an AD with one. I'd be interested too.

There was a thread a little while back about that 'burb in truckin' magazine. It had a big bad roof rack on it, and is featured on the rack manufacturer's web site.

classicracks.com

Sounds like it could be a site for vintage pin-ups, no?

They've got some nice stuff.

That roof rack was a bit to "safari" for me. I'm looking for one like I saw on the 65 GMC suburban I almost bought a year ago.

Barrett-Jackson sold a 53 burb a while back that had one, maybe you could find it on the web somewhere,

Check out the local marina. Maybe some boat rails would make a nice custom rack. I saw some teak and brass rails one time that I thought would look really cool on a vehicle, but the brass would be a booger to keep shiny.

I used a roof rack of a late model van on my '61 wagon. Looks like a factory installed rack wink .

Just watch that you don't end up with a leaky roof as I have seen so often on RV roofs loaded with accessories which suffer from heat cracks. W
