They usually get bent from someone putting a jack under the axle & getting the rod with it.

Adding to what Wrenchbender mentioned is the fact that they are tough and relatively flexible. This means if you are anal, you can pull the tie rod off and straighten it. A block of wood at each end, and the neighbors fat wife in the middle would probably do the trick.

Anyway I see ya got the answers already, yep straight as an arrow. These are the blocks I made to straighten mine up in a hydraulic press.
