All it takes is a small amount of torque twist, and the cap will hit the body. If there's less than 1/2" of clearance with the cap installed, get out the BFH and give it a few good whacks before you install the distributor. Jerry

The Accel unit uses a Mopar cap and the MSD unit uses a traditional GM cap. I have used both,but have now settled with a MSD ready to run unit. It has a magnetic pickup and has 1 degree of timing variation at 10000 rpm (not that you or I will be in that range with either of our engines)

| | | | Joined: May 2006 Posts: 77 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: May 2006 Posts: 77 | If you use an MSD ready to run distributor, you can use vacuum advance or not and the unit is packaged with different advance springs, so you taylor your advance curve. HEI is nice if you have the clearance, but sometimes in an effort to save a little coin you may make changes to your precious truck that you wish you hadn't (such as taking a hammer to the firewall).
