I just bought a '60 Short Step and want to can the stock front suspension for a newer setup w/ disk brakes and rack and pinion. I just called a guy that was selling a mustang f suspension and he said that it would not work and that I needed a Mustang ll or Pinto f suspension. Does that sound right?? I'm looking for a direction here. I can do the fab., I just need to know were to start.

Good thing you can do the fabrication. As far as know, that's the only thing that works with the 60-62 chassis. There is nothing bolt-in available. As far as what fits? Maybe someone else will chime in.

'63-up front cradle assembly...I think all the way up into the '80s.
Do a search on here, 67-72chevytruck.com, and Jalopyjournal.com
It's a pretty common swap, and from what I've read, it's as simply as six bolts (and drilling holes for a couple of them)
I'm ALWAYS leary of any Mustang II swap...the control arms and spindles were designed for a very, very light car that made no power, and guys are putting them under '69 big block Camaros now. Plus, the geometry of the control arms was designed for a vehicle with a pretty narrow width.

I'd look at the later Chevy truck set-up, with a quick ratio power steering box.

Brad,
That's just what I was thinking, about the Mustang ll being narrow and too light. Thanks.

Check out my webshots. I swapped a '79 onto my '50. Easy swap.
