Here's the story. A month or so ago my buddy Dave called me to say that a friend of his was going to come over and take some pictures of his truck (a 1941 1/2 ton) he said I should bring my 46 over because two old chevys are always better than one. So when I got there it turns out that the guys taking the pictures are the editors of Pickup Truck magazine from Japan.

We spent a couple of hours talking old trucks and taking pictures. What a great time. I was kind of suprized that the Jpanese are interested in old trucks. Well I guess they are. They did an entire artical on trucks in the LA area.

Well they sent me a copy of the magazine and low and behold my buddys truck is on the front cover! They did a feature artical on our trucks. There's a great two page picture of both our trucks plus pictures of Me and Dave with our trucks, and some detail pictures of the engines and the differences between the 41 and 46 year trucks.

I'll have to get the artical translated into english. It's going to be interesting what they said about our trucks.

If it doesn't infringe on any copyright laws maybe I can scan a couple of the pictures. How bout it Peg, Would this be OK?

If so I can get them scanned and perhaps someone would be willing to post them for me, as I can't post pictures from here. (long story)

It was a fun experence all around. I'm not sure if we have any Stovebolters in Japan, but if so You might want to look a copy of Pickup Truck.

Well I can get some of the pictures scanned but I'm still concerned about the copyright stuff. I don't want to get the Stovebolt site into trouble.

I hope that Peg might chime in on their view of the copyright thing.

I work at an advertising agency and this issue comes up a lot. Though I am not a copyright lawyer, it is my understanding that you must gain permission to use the material if you stand to make money off it. And the first thing the offended copyright owner must do is ask for the material to be removed. If it is not, then there is trouble.

A friend of ours owns a bike shop in NYC. They had some pics in an italian magazine. Whole big spread. They have the pics of the covers and articles on their website. They do it with all the Easyriders and Hot Bike covers they get as well. I have a pic of my husband that was in Easyriders on my website page. Nobody has come after me yet.

I say post em. As long as you arent scanning and posting the entire magazine I am pretty sure you will be ok. Like the pp said, you arent gaining any monetary value for us looking at them, and this is a non-profit website.

Peggy feel free to smack me if I am wrong!
