I guess another way of asking this question would be : will all of these engines bolt up to the same bellhousing ? I am new at this and trying to sort out some things on a swap into a non-Chevy truck . Thanks in advance for help from the experts. | | |

The 235 & 216 have some bolts that you have to drop the clutch & flywheel to get too. I believe the other 6's have all exterior bolts on the bellhousing. But, will the trannys interchange with the bellhousings? I haven't measured but the holes look like they will line up. Somebody else will know for sure. Good luck with the project.

Unfortunately no. The 235 is an earlier motor and is different. The 230, 250 and 292 I believe are all the same as Chevy V-8s. If I'm wrong someone will correct me, and I'm absolutely sure of that.

Transmissions, however, will, up to a point. The bolt pattern is the same but some transmissions and bellhousings have bigger center holes than others.
