Are the engine backplates the same for the 230 ,235, 250 & 292 cu in engines? I guess another way of asking this question would be : will all of these engines bolt up to the same bellhousing ? I am new at this and trying to sort out some things on a swap into a non-Chevy truck . Thanks in advance for help from the experts.

Nobody else has replied yet, so I'll help out. The 235 & 216 have some bolts that you have to drop the clutch & flywheel to get too. I believe the other 6's have all exterior bolts on the bellhousing. But, will the trannys interchange with the bellhousings? I haven't measured but the holes look like they will line up. Somebody else will know for sure. Good luck with the project.

Unfortunately no. The 235 is an earlier motor and is different.

The 230, 250 and 292 I believe are all the same as Chevy V-8s. If I'm wrong someone will correct me, and I'm absolutely sure of that.

Don't know what you're trying to wed, but this site might help. Novak Jeep site

Old sub is right on the bell housing mounts being the same between the late six and the small block.

Bellhousings will not mate up between engine series. Transmissions, however, will, up to a point. The bolt pattern is the same but some transmissions and bellhousings have bigger center holes than others.

If you use a 250 on a pre 1954 you wil need to change the trany support to a 54-? The bell house changed.
