If it's the original engine, it would most likely be a 305. The only problem with that is that it would actually be a GMC, not a Chevy. Possibly a PO swapped out some sheetmetal somwhere during the trucks life? Can you post some pix? That might help ID it a little better.

Look at all the Ebay entries where they say it is a Vx and it is an inline engine. | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 2,877 Socket Breaker | Socket Breaker Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 2,877 | The 230 and the 292 are inline engines... as longbox55 mentions. http://www.stovebolt.com/techtips/buyers_guide_60_66.htm GMC: 1960 - 1963 Big Block 305 V-6 only GMC: 1964 - 1966 Big Block 305 V-6, (351 V-6 -1966 only) - or option of the inline Chevrolet six cylinder engines | | | | Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: May 2006 Posts: 8,351 | I have heard of the V6 being used in a Chevy, but only in the heavier truck (1 1/2 ton? up). Or at least the Chilton manual list them.
