Can anyone recommend a machine shop to do some minor lathe work? I need a shifter shortened and threaded. Thanks in advance.

I would use the yellow pages and find one close by. Most machine shops should be able to handle that job. They may not want to take on such a small job.
I have one I use in Dallas that would not normally do small jobs but one of their machinists is a friend of mine.

Here's the guy you need to call. He's is in Crowley, TX just south of Fort Worth. Not only is he a pro machinist, but he has owned old trucks from the 40s and 50s. He does a lot of work on old vehicles.

if he doesn't want to do it try Hoop's welding in Denton.

Does it have to be turned on a lathe or can it just be cut ground down and welded. I might be able to help you I'm in Azle and own an Ornamental Iron manufacturing shop.

Joe, I met the Beaver,, bet he could take care of it..plus he is cheap,, just kidding, dont know about the cheap..


might have a guy here in mesquite, I would have to pick up your truck and drive it here though he fixed me up on my 52 to give me a longer stem, made it where it scewed into the orginal s-10 shifter but added a couple of inches or so , I hated having to bend down a little to shift,, worked well, charged me 70 bucks but it looked good

Get out your hacksaw and your tool and dies. Guess I don't understand the problem if you can't.
