Can I just plug the one.

If this new sending unit was the proper replacement, I wonder why it had the extra vent line? Maybe you should attach it to your gauge before you 'dunk it' and make sure it's the correct one. OH! Are you aware that the sending unit has a resistance value that must match the value of the fuel gauge. Most GM rigs of the '50's era used 30 ohm systems. A '84 will probably have a 90 ohm sending unit...this means your '52 fuel gauge will not read properly with your '84 sender. Just a thought!

Yes the 52 fuel gauge will not read properly I have 90 ohm sending unit and 12-volt 2" S-W that I will use
