I have the grille ready to be installed on my '48 3100, but the fasteners are long gone. It looks like I need a lot of those J-clips, but I don't know what to look for. Would someone who has installed an AD grille tell me what I need?

I have a grille kit, but other than the nuts and bolts needed to attach the grille bars, there are only ten J-clips and corresponding clutch head sheet metal screws. I'm guessing these are for attaching the grille assembly to the splash pan, but they seem kind of small for that. Also, how do I get to those top two bolts (or whatever) that are behind the parking lights? I don't believe the parking lights can be put in after the grille assembly is on the truck.

ohwell

There are many suppliers out there that should carry that hardware. My first vendor I would look to would be LMC.

Thanks, Big Chevy 3600, but I actually have two of those hardware kits, and other than the ten J-clips mentioned above, all they contain is the grille bar mounting nuts and bolts.

It seems like you've put your truck the same way mine is going together, ChuckTheTruck - put it together, take it apart, add something, put it together, repeat, repeat, repeat....

Can you remember what the fasteners were to mount the grille assembly to the fenders, splash pan, etc? I have to buy some.

Tom R, The parking lights can be mounted last..
Just leave the lens and bezel off the lamp before
installing....It also seemed like a grill fastener
package had everything necessary to build My grill
back after having it chromed...Bill B

The grill to lower splash pan bolts are #14 hex head sheet metal screws inserted into J-nuts in the splash pan. They're not included in the grill bolt kits. I believe they're 1" length and you can get the J nuts and bolts from Restoration Specialties, among others. I don't have the part # handy right now but I can find it later if you'd like. I seem to recall needing about 20 of them all together for the lower splash pan, 1 on each fender and a couple on the upper baffle. The other bolts are just 5/16" course thread hex head bolts that thread into weld nuts on grill side bars and braces.
The small J nuts and clutch head screws in the kit are for the end of the grill bars, where the inner and outer bars come together.
