Hi Everyone!

I'm looking for info on building a 37' pickup. I am not too familiar with the older chevs. Mostly just newer.

Just from looking around for a while I think I want to put a 327 /tubro 350 with a stang front end, 9" rear with a custom 4 link. I would like to shave most of the body and narror the bed.

I can't find too many sites on the 36-40's. Can anyone recommend some places to start? Also where can I buy replacement grills/body panels ect. I found a few sites but they don't go this early.

Thanks!

Welcome to the 'Bolt playboy!
I can't really help you too much on a '37, my area is more the '55-'59s, but I'm certain that there's others here that can help.
One thing I can throw out to is this, Have you possibly considered using an S10 Chassis? That conversion is very popular with the '47-'54 owners. I don't know how well it would work with a '37 though.

original parts are getting harder to find for the 37 which is know as the Diamond Series. There are a great deal of repop stuff out there. If you will check the Links on this site many places are mentioned. American Classis which helps out here is one vendor. Others are JimCarter, Chev's of the 40's, The Filling Station, Classis Parts, Bowtie Bits, LMC, Truck and Car Shop to mention a few. There are many more. First decide what you want to do and in the meantime check out the online catalogs, or send for a few to get your feet wet! There are several 37 guys around and a couple currently working on their projects. A couple around here are the "experts". So, pull up a chair, stay tuned and WELCOME TO THE BOLT.
You may want to send for the Chevrolet Packet for 37's from the Chevrolet Assistance Program. Its free and there is more info about this in the tech tips or links so take a look around at the top of the page.

I'd rather walk and carry a Chevy hub cap than ride in a Ferd.
I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you smile

great thanks!

Any good books out there? Maybe not a 37 specifically but just a good street rod book.

Playboy, I'm not sure but I have seen several recomendations for a book on truck restoration and written I believe by John Gunnell. Maybe someone will chime in here before long. A catalog is nice to thumb through and look at stuff for your paticular model just to get a feel for things. I still recommend calling the Chevy assistance line and asking for their packet. The number to call is 800-222-1020. Be sure to have you model, and Vin number on hand for them. You'll get a packet in a week or so. Also browse around in some other forums when you can get a little more specific about what your doing and enjoy the vast amount of knowledge here that you will not find in books!!

Welcome to the BOLT! I can't help you either but you came to the right place to ask. As far as your body parts question, look in the swap meet section of this site. By the way, post some pictures of that 37' (37 Foot grin ) truck of yours!

Always get a 2nd opinion, especially if I am the source of the 1st opinion.
