I'm going to put the 6 bolt disc brakes kit on my 51 Chevy pickup.

I'd also like to put discs on my 48 Chevy car and use my original Chevy wheels.

Does anyone know if the spindles of the car are the same as the spindles for the truck, so I could use the truck kit on the car?

OR.....

They make kits for the car but they are 5 lug.

Does anyone know if I could get the 5 lug rotors drilled for the 6 lug car pattern?

I'm surprized this hasn't been addressed by the market. I think there would be high demand for a kit that would allow use of the stock 16" wheels of the car. After all, stock brakes are usually a high maintenace problem on antique vehicles. Disc brakes are usually easier to keep fresh.

Thanks...I've seen these...but they are 5 lug & require new wheels and won't match the rear wheels.

I'm looking for disc brakes with a 6 lug rotor that will accomodate the stock 48 car wheels.

They make a 6 lug rotor for our trucks...I don't know if there's a difference between the car & truck wheels lug pattern or if I can find someone to drill new rotors to fit my car.

Buffalo Ent. should be able to fix you up with a kit for 6 lug discs for car and truck. You'll have to ask him re. wheel. Give him a call 360 652-7684.

In looking at the specs on chevy.tocomp.com the bearings for a 48 car and a 51 truck appear to be totally different so I'd say no you can't swap but I might be wrong.

Redrilling rotors shouldn't be that hard to find someone to do.
