First will it "fit" on my 53 PU and if my memory serves me I thought I had seen that the signal was an option on the 53, is that correct?

The steering wheel changed in 1954, so the '54 turn-signal set might not work on '53 or earlier steering wheels/columns.
Someone who has actually used the '54 passenger car turn signal on a '53 column would give you the most reliable answer to your question. | | |
