Having been a "car nut" for about 70 of my 75 years I have been to a bunch of car shows starting with Bob Peterson's first show at the Los Angeles Armory in 1948. Well today I have entered my 'bolt (1954 GMC 100 pickup) in my first show. It's not really show material but I'm doing it for fun, lots of people like our old trucks so I will give some a chance to see mine. Also Lost1953 is supposed to be there so I will get to meet my first 'bolter too.

That sounds fun, I took mine to a few cruise in shows a few years back. It was in pretty much original condition, I had rebuilt the engine and brakes so it was driveable.
I had so many people come by to talk, it was real fun. It seems that everybody likes to see projects or originals even when there are lots of other shiny ones around.

I have several '64-'66 Chevy trucks in my collection and I have attended a number of car/truck shows, however I have never put the two together. I am hopeful to participate in my first show this summer. I never anticipated enter a show, but I sure get a kick out of talking about old trucks.

I've been going to parking lot shows for years and I've noticed the same thing. I think it's becuse people can identify with these old trucks in project or original condition. I seldom go to a show where somebody doesn't tell me they had a father, grandfather, uncle or somebody in thier family that had one of these. Also seems a lot of people learned to drive on an old truck.

I went to the show last night and had a great time. My old unrestored truck got lots of attention and there were many high dollar cars there. Several guys "had one like it" years ago and a few kids looked it over pretty well, maybe there is future generation of Stovebolters coming along. I got lots of comments on my bed wood, I guess my 40 hrs. of work doing the bed was not wasted. Cheyenne of lost1953 showed up with family, very nice people. I will definitely take the '54 to another show soon, and would recommend all 'bolters do the same. Life is short at best, enjoy all you can.

I echo all of the above chevman32 . I've had my '48 for 40 years and took it to it's first show last summer, as-is, in it's never-been-totally-restored condition and it was so much fun! The truck took a first place in 1900 to 1948 stock trucks simply because it was the only one there in it's class, and there were are a lot of terrific vehicles. I took it to another show the next month and same thing, another first place for the same reason. Stock is getting harder to find I guess. Just going is fun even if you don't win anything and it's so awesome seeing all of the great vehicles.

car shows are fun, especially when there are only a couple of raggedy @$$ vehicles there, and all the city boys with their trailer queens turn up their noses at you...

Hey Chev! I went as you know, and had a load of fun. I posted a "rant" in the greasy spoon tho. I had "down the nose" lookers at my poor Thing, and it HURT my poor widdle feelins! But wasnt it FUN! You goin to the Dinuba one? I gotta get infor on that one, I may call the chambers tomorrow to get some info. You can download the entry form, I cant, puter to old!

I am on work assignment in Albany, NY for the next several months. Are there any shows in the Albany, NY area this summer?
