I remember my Dad's 1950 with the same arrangement. There is a hole under the tailgate on my truck (middle). I have seen pictures of some sort of "J" hook attached betwen the rear bumper and spare tire. Can anyone tell me what the hole / hook is supposed to do? I have seen this "hook" on several restorations, but can't find reference in any restoration catalogs. IF there is any way possable to get some pictures of that posted to a photo album it would sure be an asset to the forum members. I for one would like to fab a copy of one and have been gathering up as many different pictures and views as I can find for my referance file.
