I have a 1951 truck with drop down spare tire carrier - intact. I remember my Dad's 1950 with the same arrangement. There is a hole under the tailgate on my truck (middle). I have seen pictures of some sort of "J" hook attached betwen the rear bumper and spare tire. Can anyone tell me what the hole / hook is supposed to do? I have seen this "hook" on several restorations, but can't find reference in any restoration catalogs. Thanks, BW
