old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Feb 2005 Posts: 90 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Feb 2005 Posts: 90 | Just bought a '64 GMC, model 1502. It's a 3/4 ton with 15" 8 lug split rims! What would be a good replacement wheel? I would like a 16" wheel that was stock appearing yet accept the stock hubcaps. Is there such a wheel? | | | | | Joined: Jul 2006 Posts: 707 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2006 Posts: 707 | Yes. Plenty of 'em. Check your local used parts suppliers. 1951 3800 Be the change you want to see. -hotshoe

They are 16" x 6-1/2" I paid $80 for a matched set of 4. Installed BF Goodrich Commercial T/A's 215/185/16 LT/s. They look kind of old school with no white stripe or letters. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 22 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 22 | brad, are you using alloy wheels or steel? are you running a spacer to make up for the positive offset? | | | | | Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 3,596 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 3,596 | I am not using wheel spacers, the wheels are steel and I modified my tie-rods and steering arms to fit, i now have about 1/4" of clearance between the wheel and the tie-rod ends. These wheels have exactly 3/8" inch difference from the ones that were on it which I am not sure were originals since they were 15" splits on the front and 16" splits on the back. I gained almost 1/2" per side by getting away from the old tie rod ends. I bought a new tie-rod and ends but I am going to go the speedway route and retrofit a new custom tie-rod and ends also new drag link same style from them.I drove the old studs out as others have suggested by grinding off the nut side and drilling out the center, they then popped right out. | | |
