It seems like most folks here use the "Webshots account" to show pics of thier trucks. Often there is just some words that are underlined that if you click on it takes you to thier albums. How do you do that. I just rescued a '50 Chevy Stovebolt on Sunday to add to my '51 GMC and would like to send pics as was requested. Make it simple cause I just spent an Hour uploading each photo separately to Webshots. I'm not the most gifted computer person!

I like Picasa myself. But any one will do. After you create the album, there will be an address up top in the window that starts with http. Go up there with your mouse. When the arrow is just to the right of that address, right click on it. A drop down menue with appear. Click on copy. Then minimize that screen and bring up the email or the stovebolts message you want the address to appear in. Like right now if I wanted to share an album I'd right click here and click paste:

http://picasaweb.google.com/orchidskip/DonTForceIt?authkey=0YGzJdcyZPQ

And voila! The address appears here in the text. It's called cut and paste or copy and paste. Go to preview post and see how it looks. You should now have a blue web address that is a link to your photo album. Put the cursor on it. Test it and see if it works. If not, I probably did a bad job explaining it. :hammering:

Most of us on dial-up prefer Photobucket because they don't throw a lot of ads in when you look at the pic (loads a LOT faster). When you have your hosting account go to the 'bolt main page & click on the glove box manual. There are instructions there on how to put links to your pics in your posts.

Also, in the IT Shortbus, Red did a pretty good overview on the different photo hosting sites. I imagine he'll be in here in a while and give you that link.

We'll eventually incorporate all that info into the Glovebox Manual.

picture posting grin

it's easy Chevy Nut - when viewing the pic you want to link, just highlight the address in the address bar of the browser, right click and select "copy address", go to the post topic page here and paste it in

I use my ISP, Internet Service Provider to host pictures. Some people may not be aware when you sign up for the monthly service to get an account and on the internet you get other stuff besides an email address. You might get 5 megs of storage to host your own mini website. Contact your ISP your mileage may vary.

In my case I have 10 megs. Most of which is taken up with family PDFs of documents and such. But I also put up 3 pics of the Mayberry bus candidate and linked it to a forum message. Using your own ISP space gets rid of any ads which is good for the dialup guys. Also keep the photos small in size.

You can download IrfanView, a free for private use photo program, that will do about anything you would want. It resizes, changes formats, makes thumnails etc. Great program. Just type IrfanView in Google and it'll bring up the webpage where you can download it. grin
