If you look around, you should be ablbe to find a shop that will fab a set of tubular headers. I don't know of any aftermarket stuff for old sixes, but there are some for 250/292 CID engines. Perhaps with a bit of torch work one could be adapted.

I believe they only come in pairs. Install one of them on your truck and save the second one for when you get dual exhaust. They sound real nice. Cost about $60 for the pair.

They are cheap - $18.00, and you'll find them at any auto parts store with 2" or 2.25" inlet/outlet. They will give you a little more sound with out the "racket" of a smithy :-)

I had my original exhaust manifold split by Kansas Kustoms, ($189) and a custom dual system built by Meineke with Turbo mufflers. Sounds GREAT, not nasty and raspy like a V8 street rod, but mellow and husky like a strong Stovebolt 6. Duals completely made in aluminized steel with Turbo mufflers installed, ($250). All in all, a great deal for the price, and exactly the sound I wanted! And it will never rust! | | |
