I seem to remember reading on the forum some time back that weak hood springs were the cause of the hood staying a little too high at the rear. I just got around to attempting to adjust mine on my 1960 apache stepside. I adjusted the rear bumpers on the hood which ride on a little platform on the cab. Now the passenger side sits down correctly, but the drivers side rides up about 1/8 inch. I can push it down by hand and it will almost stay, but seems to be spring loaded to pop back up to the original 1/8 inch too high. The adjustment of the hood hings to cab is at the lowest possible setting.
It's hard to tell by looking, but would a new and stronger spring fix this problem? The hood barely stays up by itself since I lubed the hinges.

if your hood barely stays up, i would replace them, and that might help your other problems too, you may have a weak and slightly tweaked hinge, i had to replace the one on my 63, it had the same problem, i put another used set on and i was good to go

The rear of the hood on my 70 wouldn't close down. Bought new hinges and springs and it is all better now.
