I was wondering if the 59 has a different steering column cancelling cam or setup than a 60 does. I have a 60 Apache 10 but I'm not sure if the columns original. It has 59 stamped on the side of it, so I thought maybe that was the year. I bought a cancelling cam for a 60 and it doesn't seem to fit the column and there wasn't an old cancelling cam in there. I'm thinking it's not original. Did the 59's have self cancelling turn signals?

Yes 59's did have self cancelling turn signals, but it was an option. I don't think there is anything similar between the 59 and 60 turn signals or column as the 60 was a completely re-designed truck. The catalogue I have shows one type for a 60 and another for 61-62, with 63 up different yet. It's entirely possible someone has changed it over the years. Fred

I appreciate your information.I probably do have a different year column in the truck, it's chromed but that was probably done by a PO. Thanks again,I'll have to do some more research,I just don't like canceling it manually, I'll probably forget too.

Can't be a column from a '59, they don't interchange. The dat probably means the column was manufactured in late '59, when the new bodiy truck went to market. I don't have the manual handy, but I can check it to see if it shows what the cam looks like, might just be the same part as the '55-'59.

Hello Cal55, Grant here. When I was into Model A's there was a real tendancy of the elders forgetting to stop the turn signals. We younger guys fixed that problem by going to Radio Shack and getting sound indicators. They wire into the feed wire for the appropriate side of the t/s circuit. By buying two, you simply pick a feed wire for left, and one for right, and tap this audible "beeper" into that wire. Whenever the t/s is activated the beeper is heard in time with the flashing of the lite. If you only want to install one, put it on the output side of the flasher, you'll get the same result. I purchased mine several years ago, but I'm sure they are still available. They were about $6 each. I hope this helps. Grant.

Thanks guys for the information and good ideas about the sound indicators. If I can't get the signals to self cancel that might be the route to go. Paul's GMC and Chevy parts said the 55-59 had a canceling plate and that they could order it for me, it's only $6.00. They don't stock it, so I'll probably order one and see if it fits my column.
