A ($100) stainless tray would look a little too "flashy" for my bolt.
Anyone have opinions on powder coating a ($35) mild steel tray? It would seem to have better corrosion resistance than paint or undercoating.

It's holding up very nicely. I will admit, though, I am running an Optima battery, which doen't gas like regular batteries do.

an idea is only stupid if you think about it rationally.

Priced at $50.00 coated, it might be a better bet for you. I am not sure what you would get charged for the powder coating, but this would appear to be a more economical choice. I replaced mine about two years ago, and it still looks new. You might want to check this out. See below: http://mar-k.com/catalog/catalog.asp?TruckCode=19581958CS-65

That is EXACTLY what I was looking for, something better than "just painted", but not so flashy as polished chrome. Mine is undercoating covered, doesn't look so great, and at best, needs to be sandblasted and recoated. All said and done, I'd be better off with Mar-K's then messing with it myself.
Thanks muchly!
