Can somebody tell me the thread size of the nut that holds the steering wheel on. Also on full lock is it normal for the front right hand tyre to rub against the drag link.(Aussie right hand drive)

And no, the tire shouldn't rub on the drag link, rgardless of right or left drive. Sounds like the wheels may have been swapped for Japanese truck wheels-same bolt pattern, wrong offset. The wheels are set too far inboard from the correct location. You'll want wheels with no more than 4" of backspace.
