Looking good....alot of quality work! I like the color. Can just picture the grin on both your faces, when you take it out for its first spin!!!

Looks like you didn't do too bad a job with your son either!!!! Nothing like a Father/Son project to make the world a little brighter for both.

Thanks for keeping us posted,

Dave

Hey Houston, I am thinking about using the newer style step bumper similar to what you have done, but wasnt sure what model would fit the best...what model truck did you get that step bumper from? It looks nice.

That bumper came from a 89 vintage S-10 and was a $5 swap meet find. I like how it turned out also.

RR - Thanks, I had not heard that. Maybe I will have a stealth stovebolt.

Waldo - You know it! His Eagle is not in the bag yet. He has to complete phase 2 of his project and then get past the scoutmaster who seems to make everything more difficult than it needs to be.

Fla - We are very proud of both our kids. We wonder what we did so right.

Yes, I agree, Eagle Scout is quite an honor, give him my best regards as I am also an Eagle Scout. What an honor. I finished mine up about 8 years ago.

What was his project? Just because I'm curious

Very nice. That bed wood really looks great. The exhaust being that close to the gas tank wont be a problem will it?

Joe, Thanks but that lift was at the muffler shop not my garage. It sure would be nice to have but a larger garage would be first. Maybe after college is paid for.

Jeff, the exhaust piping does route around the tank but there is plenty of clearance for air flow between the two. Heat transfer to the tank should be minimal. The pipes are no closer that what I have seen on many new cars.

Scott, his Eagle project is the building and installation of 6 treated wood benches for the sports field at the church. The are constructed using 4x6 posts (3) and 2x12x10'. Turned out very sturdy. We install them weekend after next.

That is a true statement, I drove a gray car for a long time.

I don't know if it blends into the colors of the old asphalt and concrete or what, but people would pull right out in front of me and be surprised when suddenly I was there.

I started driving around with my headlights on all the time, that seemed to help some. I think it attracted their eyes or something. I figured if it worked with daytime running lights on newer cars, I could just use the headlights on my older car.

I drive around with my low beams on in the day in my old '65 truck also... just in case. One more thing to try to stay away from the idiots.

I live in Atlanta, so we have plenty of idiots to go around.

Super nice work on the bed Houston.

Gotta be proud of that son! What a great father son project. I too am blessed. I am a farmer and my daughter and son in law are now living on the farm and we are farming together with the goal being for Mike (son in law) to one day take over the farm. Mike grew up on a farm but didn't get a chance to farm, he also went to Wyo-Tech and studied auto body and mechanics. He is great help and can fix anything! (this is great) Mike is also a truck guy! Can my daughter pick em or what! Any way looks Great! Look forward to seeing it when you get it done, really neat project!
