McMaster-Carr is a great industrial supply house but you won't find any truck or car wheel bearings - only industrial/commercial applications like lawn mowers, etc. Anyway that's all I saw.

I have looked at a bazillion bearing books and have come to the conclusion the only way a bearing would be listed for a specific application (wheel bearing) would be to find it in the parts manual for the vehicle involved.

McMaster-Carr does carry some Timken tapered roller units, but again, they are listed only by cup and cone number...you have to know what you want. With Timken units, you can mix cups and cones (bearings & races) to achieve different OD's, ID's and heights in your quest to make your own wheel bearings.

Unless someone else has done the research and fitting for a particular rig, without a specific bearing number, or size, finding a magic chart will be a real toughie. I wish one existed!

I agree Stuart; outside Chicago here, we have an industrial bearing supplier, Berry Bearing, that is part of the larger, Motion Industries group. I was going to save myself a bunch of money and buy all my bearings and seals from them. I've tried to get wheel, center support, rear axel bearings and seals by using the number on the bearings/seals and numbers from the parts books and they end up having to get them from the after market suppliers just like me. The counter man even told me, that I would be better off just ordering them from one of the vendors that sell restoration parts because when they get them, they have to mark them up. I found that to be true in almost all cases.
I just ordered inner/outer rear hub bearings and seals for my 3/4 ton from Carter, they had the best prices, but only three out of the four bearings. I've been waiting on the B/O for a week now and they say might be ten days, then it will probably be another ten days till they ship them, Carter has been very slow getting an order out in the past.
Oh, and McMaster is only an industrial supplier, I also doubt they would have any thing auto related. That said, I did find 1/4”x .028” Bundyweld plated steel brake tubing there for $15 for a 21ft. coil after I just paid $25 for a 20ft. coil at Inline Tube. Ten bucks differance almost buys another coil of tubing.

I spent hours trying to find tapered rollers for my '57 and avoid paying over 100.00 for a set. I figured it all out, and found a website for a firm in Japan that makes the inner (outer is 70's camaro) but I couldn't find a retail outlet, except a guy in Georgia that wants as much as the resto shops.
I think the AD and TF 1/2 tons use the same front wheel bearings. I ended up buying a set from CPP during their December Ebay sale. White Box with no ID or numbers on the bearings. If you want std ball bearings, try FLAPs or Napa. Outer is a B01 and I forget what the inner is. I'll try to paste my TF bearing links: BCA is some sort of industry standard designation. TF use a BCA# B01

All the big players in bearings make BCA bearings. MBS are the only guys I found making the inner in a tapered roller.

All the players have online catalogs listing millions of bearing sizes and I'm sure they have stuff not on their public web's. Search for Timken Bearings, SKF Bearings, NTN, MBS and FAG. (A German bearing mfg) Then go to there on line catalogs.
