What does the trim code 234N mean on my '56 4400?

234N: Ocean Green exterior color (1956 Chevrolet truck)

Tim, the TF trucks have different codes for "trim" and "paint" on the tag , and I've never found any info on truck trim codes [cars had different numbers]

Thanks for the correction. The code posted by Chris matched an Exterior Color Code; and, as you say, there was no info on 1956 trim codes in the 46-72 ID Numbers book.

234N looks like an RPO code (on all Advance-Design trucks, 234 was the RPO number for exterior color, and the suffix-letter was the color indicator).

234N was also the RPO for Ocean Green in 53-55. In 1956, the interior color "Crest Green" was the same mixing code as the exterior "Ocean Green".

Actually the paint code for 1956 ocean green is 735. and that is what the paint code is on my tag. It reads: Trim 234N
Paint 735

So since ocean green was a carry over color from 1955, Do you think my interior color is supposed to be ocean green, as opposed to the standard grey/charcoal?

Well I checked my Resto pack from gm, and RPO 234 is "Color combination (solid colors)"

There seems to be two pages missing from their spec book (that it looks like they photo coppied) so I still dont know what the N means.

And am I correct in saying that the big back window is only for "custom" cabs, and the small back window is for "deluxe" cabs? SO since I have the small back window, I have a "deluxe" cab, wich is supposed to be two tone gray with a black seat and black knobs?

no, the big or small window was available as an individual option, called the 'Panoramic Full View rear window', but was always part of the 'Deluxe Cab Option' ... the black knobs were the 'standard', chrome was part of the Deluxe Cab option, and I've seen many trucks with the small window combined with some of the "deluxe" trim packages, and big window cabs with none of the deluxe trim

what messes things up is all the options were available individually [including seat covers and plusher seats], and it's entirely possible that they labeled a cab that got every "deluxe" option a "custom cab option" but I've never seen anything in writing to that effect

According to the Catlog of Chevy Truck ID Numbers, 234N comes up as Ocean Green. It seems that all truck colors are #234, with the letter at the end signifying what the color is. Oddly enough, there are 3 different codes for Pure White, T w/chrome trim, U w/std trim, V 36-3800 w/std trim. Not sure if there is any real diffence in those colors.

SO would "trim" be the interior color?

Also Bill (red 58) you posted a link to a body by fisher tag...is that on the firewall/cowl under the hood or?
