For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 48 Junior Member | | Junior Member Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 48 | I completely rebuilt the inside of the doors. I found several things very wrong, and fixed them. One quarter gear for the window was missing teeth in 2 places and I welded up some new ones. That worked well. Got it all lubed and back together and the driver window wont stay up. The coil spring is good, or at least worked well on the bench. Any idea what I did wrong?
I also dont have any idea how the door windlace attaches. I understand the flap of the seal goes under some sheetmetal. I dont have this metal, I guess, so if any of you have any pictures of how this works, I would apreciate seeing them.
Thanks for the help. Jim | | | | | Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 2,953 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 2,953 | Just trying to recall when I did mine. The window I think is under tension from the spring to stay closed. When it goes down past a certain point the spring tension seems to relax and let it stay down. However going up should take less effort than going down. I would check the coiled spring again to make certain it is up against the peg in the regulator. A long shot maybe and it has been a while since I did mine. It was a 53. | | |
