I am ready to order headliner material for the '53 Bolt. I see two kinds: one with two sections and one that is all one piece. How are they different from each other? What holds them in? Maybe I am missing something, cause all we have in the roof is the moulding channel around the outside. Which one should I get?

You are in the same boat as me. I have posted this question and it seems that no one will touch it with a ten foot pole....I'm still waiting for an answer...hope WE get one, Steve

Have you tried talking to the Vendor that you are gonna buy the headliner from?

No, I kinda thought I might be cool and know what I needed, but you're right. They probably have heard this one many times before. Lots of the vendors have the items, and then say, "picture not available." I have a digital camera I could lend them so that they could take pix of all the parts they don't have on display. Maybe there is a career here--"Part Pictures--The Last Learnable Skill."

I am no expert on headliners but I know that there are two types anyway. On my 49 I have a metal bar which goes across from door to door. There is a channel on the front and rear of this bar. On other, I think later trucks, there is a floating bar which holds the two pieces of the headliner up in the center. I feel strongly that your cab would have the floating bar.
FYI putting in that cardboard headliner can be very frustrating. i have had my cardboard headliner for years and its still not in the truck.

I would think that the 53 would have the floating bar, my 51 does. I have yet to see a cardboard headliner that went in perfectly. I am sure that those things have been called some pretty nasty names!

The headliner for your 53 will be a two piece...your center bar is a floater and there is a curved metal strip w/screws that secures the back of the liner to the rear cab ceiling. The front tucks under the windshield rubber.

The major suppliers all carry the original (sorta like stock) liners for about $25.00. However, be advised that they are very light cardboard. The one piece is plastic and well over $100.00 and requires fitting.
