How do you remove this tube so that I can get to the screw to remove the distributor? thanks for help, this is a great web site.

Once you have that done you can remove the hold-down bolt below and to the left of the distributor. You may need to wiggle the distributor some but it will come out. - When and if you need to remove the road draft tube, there is a screw located at the bottom edge of the block just above the oil-pan. Remove that screw and gently tap the top sides of the tubeback ad forth some to loosen it. It will then wiggle out. (It is a press in fit). To install the tube, use a little sealeraround the edge of the hole in the block and make sure you line up the lower part of the tube with the edge of the block. Use a small block of wood or a soft face hammer to tap the main part of the tube into the block just far enough to be snug and for the bolt hole to line up with the screw hole in the block.
There is enough good in the worst of us and enough bad in the best of us that it does not behoove any of us to criticize the rest of us. - - Be yourself. If you are ever lost, It will be much easier to find yourself if you know who you are!

There is a screw into the block in that area, but it holds a baffle in place, and if you remove it, the baffle falls, and no way to set it back in place without removing the oil pan.

This strap is often gone because it broke off easily after being bent a few times.
Engines on larger trucks might have had a PCV setup on the tube, with a line or two to the carburetor air-filter housing.
