on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 117 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 117 | I have been trying to get the truck running for 6 months now, but major wiring issues have kept her down... The points were fried, distributor was 180 out, plug wires hooked up to the wrong location on the cap, ignion wires cut under the dash, and lots of "jumpers" everywhere. I had a friend come down from Canada for New Years and we spent all weekend going through the truck... Just this morning, I replaced the plugs and pumped the throttle and hit the remote starter and she chugged to life! A little 265 with the exhaust rusted out just past the exhaust manifold. Good morning neighbors! I just wanted to give some thanks to all those who gave me good advice, especially Old Sub, and Red 58!! You two were very helpful!! Now I need to get some exhaust welded into this thing, and a tranny installed, and and and Dano

I will be trying to get my 57 running in a few weeks. I hope mine cranks as good as yours did.I have no idea how many years it has been since it ran, or if it will run at all.I think mine was put out to pasture because the rear axle gears are shot, so I am in hopes the motor & transmission are workable. I just got my 41 cabover to start after who knows how long. Wonderful feeling huh! I had to drive mine about 20 yards without braks just cuz....well, closer to the shop was my validation.

They were really built right. It's amazing how easy they are to work on and how tough they are. Heck, mine started after sitting for 9 years with a crankcase full of water!! Good lick. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 117 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Feb 2006 Posts: 117 | On the plates, it appears that it hasn't been tabbed since '96... I have a SM420 and a driveline I need to install, but the old stock rear doesn't have any yoke or gears. I should be able to "drive her 20 yards towards the shop" in the next month or so Thanks for all the well wishes. It was alot of frustration, but it is starting to pay off!! Dano
