Hey guys, Still love reading through all the posts on here and thought I would toss out a question that has me perplexed... How or where do I find out about swap meets and or local clubs? I would have thought a simple search on google would have done the trick since I live near Detroit, but no luck.. Thanks!

I thought it was impossible to miss them. Every car show I have my truck in I get about a dozen flyers of upcoming shows and swapmeets The clubs you will find by their attendance at the shows. Usually huddling together in the corner. I really havent found a reason to join a local club. Seem to be clanish rather than looking for new members.

"You vote for me I'll vote for you". I thought about joining intill I entered my truck into a show and saw how the guys work. I don't have any respect for the clubs anymore. Respect the cars and trucks? Yea, members no. I'm not joining.

I googled "michigan swap meets" and got a lot of good links. I joined a local club and it's been a mixed bag. I've met some really good people through the club but other than that it's been a bit of a let down. If you want to meet clubbers go to shows and look for people wearing club T shirts & jackets.

Hello!

I agree with some of the comments about some clubs being "clanish", as I have belonged to several clubs in the past and have been turned off by some of the politics that can be envolved. But that doesn't mean I given up on seeking out other hobbyist in my area. I've found that local cruise nights is a good tool to meet and get to know other hobbyist in the area.

This is also an excelent way to make contact, that's why I suggest everyone should sign up on the Stovebolt Locator!

I like the cruise nite scene better than the car shows. They're smaller and made up of local people who you can talk to and get to know. Just ask around to find out where and when they are.
Click the link below to see one of my favorites, the Fri. nite Covington (WA) cruise.
Happy New Year Stovebolters!
