If the driveline is in good shape, it would definitely be worth the asking price to part the truck out.
I wouldn't recommend drugs, alcohol, and violence to anyone...but they've worked well for me.

You are putting us on that you're just considering it. It's a done deal already. | | | | Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 73 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 73 | man, i don't know about this one. all the sheetmetal is junk. cab floors almost gone, both doors trashed, fenders trash, it looks like the core support is probably bad. no rust above the windsheild though.
i have a source for used sheetmetal & they are checking out a couple of trucks on their lot. might be able to come up with enough to do a swap... | | | | Joined: Apr 2001 Posts: 439 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2001 Posts: 439 | Do you have time for another truck? Sure you can part it out, but that takes time and effort. I'd rather focus on my main truck and once thats done then chase after all these other ones.
I wouldn't go for this one. I don't have the equipment to work on huge trucks.
Just my opinion.
There's better ones out there for the same price. | | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 926 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 926 | I'd go for it. 3 bills isn't that much if the drivetrain's as good as stated.I have a friend who can usually do a cab swap in about a day, from drive it in to drive it home,if things don't go seriously sour in the process. Or,like was suggested, flip it for a profit...I might be interested in the hoist works for my ol' Mack. If you have neighbors that are relatively close, they might complain. Do you own your home, or are you renting? Most landlords do not allow working on vehicles, let alone something like this.
I am not trying to pry, but to offer an honest opinion, a lot more background information is needed. Bringing home a 300.00 truck, can cost you much more in problems if you are not careful.
Writing the check is the easy part.

i have "places" to stash it. tires on this beast are rotten so moving it is going to be a pain.
see how i'm talking myself out of it? but if i could get some nice sheetmetal, mmmm.... | | | | Joined: Dec 2002 Posts: 3,374 Moderator - The Electrical Bay | Moderator - The Electrical Bay Joined: Dec 2002 Posts: 3,374 | sure why not... take it to the local car wash, hose it real good, then stop at Walmart and buy 2 cases of the cheapest flat black or flat red spray paint... spray bomb it and they will think it's a new truck.

Small world !!! hmm. maybe we could work something out. i only want the engine and hoist. | | | | Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 73 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 73 | ok, i am crazy. i bought both trucks. the 60 for 300 & the 65 for 200. i am going to part out the 65.
the 60 has a 261 with a tick or knock, i have to explore. the 65 has a 292, that is supposedly good. should i put the 292 in the 60? i have not heard either engine run but the 261 looks real clean. still blue with the jobmaster label. if both end up needing a freshen up, which would be better?
i have a 292 in a 70 that is great, but i don't know anything about 261s. | | | | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 3,068 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 3,068 | The 261 is a popular upgrade for the AD series owners. You could probably sell it for half of what you spent on both trucks, at least, Scott | | | | Joined: Jul 2006 Posts: 482 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2006 Posts: 482 | That is one rusty bucket of bolts!
