I recently bought a 51 and have been working on it for the last 2 months to make it my daily driver....Question is...it has no key hole on the drivers side...the passenger side has one...now in 51 did they not make a key hole there or did somebody fill it in...

Hy Holcomb, no key on drivers side, it was thought it was safer to slide across the seat and exit and lock the passenger door while standing safely on the curb, hope that helps.

Back in 1951 gentlemen driver's ruled and always allowed the passengers to access the cab first. they then unlocked the doors.

I am attempting to add a key lock to the drivers door on my 49 and found that the drivers latch mechanism does not have the same internals as the passenger side. I bought a used passenger door latch to see it I can use parts from it to modify the drivers latch so it will interface with the key lock. I haven't had the time lately to pursue it further. I'll let you know if I have any success.
