Laying in the snow isn't so bad as long as it is cold enough outside so it isn't sloppy wet.

The Stovebolt Page is a great web site for local connections. "Local" in Montana is within 150 miles (or more). Finding Steve within 150 yards was great.

Coke or Pepsi would freeze up. Barley pop is better.

Wally- Thanks for the story. Brings back early memories of my brothers 48. I grew up in Montana near Pray (between Livingston and Yellowstone). My brother bought a 48 with a homemade flatbed on a ranch auction in the early 80's. He got road worthy again (brakes and a tune up). We must have put a thousand miles on that thing and never left the ranch. (living on a 3000 acre ranch, you can do that real easy). In 84 or 85 we sold it to a guy in Gardner as a daily driver. It was that dark green. Thanks for the chance to reminise!

We get down to Chico Hot Springs in Pray every so often. Was that your local pool when you were growing up? They don't call it Paradise Valley for nothing.

Wally- Next time you're at Chico take a look on the hill to the left as your driving up the road (that doubles as a airplane runway) to Chico you'll see a big white ranch house and a few outbuildings. That is where I lived for a while. That ranch is what made me like 60-66 Chevy's. We had a 66 K20 there. We used to hunt elk and deer and get firewood from the mountain with the switch backs on it behind there. I used to collect aluminum cans from Chico in the summer for spending money. My mom was a cleaning lady there for 2 years.

I spent a night at Chico Hot Springs in 1979 on my first motorcycle ride to Montana.
