| | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 83 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 83 | I am working on parts from a '46 Chevy 1/2 ton. I have the steering wheel still attached to the column and gearbox. I was trying to take the horn button assembly appart so I can remove the steering wheel.
I know you have the horn ring on the bottom that has the 3 little notched posts that goes up through the steering wheel. Is that what is keeping the horn button in place? How do you unhook the horn button without breaking anything?

The contact plate is held in place with a spring wire that wraps around the three pronges from the piece under the stearing wheel. After you take off the spring wire and the contact plate there is a nut that holds the stearing wheel on.
