For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: May 2005 Posts: 39 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2005 Posts: 39 | I have located a grille from a '54 Chevy. The VIN of this truck begins with N54F..., which I believe makes it a 4100 series truck, at the least. (The hood emblems are already missing, but it is definately a "BIG Bolt", with dual rear wheels)
Can any portion of this grille be used on a 3100 series truck?
The grille is in good condition and I hate to pass it up
I seem to remember this topic being discussed in the past, but I am having some trouble locating where I saw the answer to my question.
Thanks

The front wrap is larger, but I believe the grille is the same for all sizes. But for the most part it is larger. | | | | | Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 1,186 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Aug 2005 Posts: 1,186 | I have to correct myself, after checking the numbers again, it appears that none of the parts are interchangeable. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 637 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Mar 2005 Posts: 637 | I know the grilles are not interchangeable. I had a '54 pickup and bought a grille from a 2 ton. It wasn't even close, the big truck part was about 4" or more wider than the pickup one. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 | | | | | | Joined: Jul 2004 Posts: 5,708 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jul 2004 Posts: 5,708 | Sheesh, I guess the verdicts in...they ARE different!
Stuart | | | | | Joined: May 2005 Posts: 39 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2005 Posts: 39 | I brought the '54 / '55 grille home and set it on the floor, in front of my 3100 series truck. From one angle it looks like it might fit, but from another angle it looks BIGGER.
What makes it more difficult to tell is that one grille is mounted on the truck while the other is not, making it hard to accurately measure. One grille is chorme and the recent find is painted.
Anyone need a painted grille for the larger series '54 / '55 truck?
Thanks for all the advice! | | |
