| | | | Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 12 Junior Member | | Junior Member Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 12 | Hi everyone, from Murraydog in the UK, I have a `49 Chevy pick-up, (3800) long wheelbase, rarer than hens teeth over here,( in fact it would appear that I own one of only three that are known of in the U.K.) and I appreciate that everybody has different ideas on how these vehicles should be treated, i.e. restored, rodded etc but I would be grateful if anybody has any information at all regarding the "grafting of a `73 Camaro front clip" onto my chassis

Also, Classic Truck Magazine and Custom Classic Truck have done articles. Check their websites.
From what I remember, the clip is cut horizontally, where the frame curves down behind the cross-member. The truck frame is cut in a curve to match. The most important thing to remember is, Measure, Measure, Measure, then cut (and hope you measured correctly).
Are you planning to change the rear axle as well?

Good luck | | | | | Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 12 Junior Member | | Junior Member Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 12 | Thanks for the response, yes it will have a Ford 9" rear axle mainly because it`s got a 460 Thunderbird engine and whilst I would love a 454 Chevy, you have no idea how much they fetch over here, upwards of $5000 and in need of rebuilding etc, I make no excuses for wanting to "rod" a classic truck but hope that you all understand the personal taste angle, great forum, nice to chat to fellow owners
