Been on line googling for the last hour and I can't find anyone who still makes them. Does anybody know of a manufactrure that still makes them?

The screws for the transmission cover are badly rusted and I don’t want to use slotted, Phillips or allan screws.

They are used quite extensively in FLa for screen enclosures over pools. They also use the square insert screws also.

Thanks Bob,
I can’t find them in their online catalog using any of this; “part # 1260 , #14 x 3/4" clutch truss head screws”, (really bad catalog) but I sent a letter to them requesting their paper catalog.
Dun, unable to find any references to them on Google, only clutch head safety screws, they are the ones you can turn but can’t turn out, like in the toilet enclosures.
Hevy, nota under “clutch head” at either Classic Parts, (mentioned that previously) or American Classic Truck Parts. They do list slotted screw but not clutch head for the trans cover.

Restoration Specialties Catalog : page 165, CLUTCH HEAD SCREWS & ACCESSORIES (a few more items are on pages 170 and 171). All are listed on page 217 in the INDEX. A search on "clutch head" finds them all.

Restoration Specialties' catalog is worth having on-hand because there are correct-sized drawings of all parts, allowing you match parts. The catalog is in PDF to allow correct sizing/matching of parts.

Classic Parts of America (Chevy Duty) has a few clutch head bolts. (search on clutch)

LMC has some (search on "clutch")

tc, I have, ordered RS&S catalog! Thanks for the link to the page, I'll check them out. If I downloaded their complete catalog (nearly 300pg's) in pdf format, over my dial up connection, it would take half the day at least. My connection speed is typically around 30kbps.
Your link to Chevy Duty comes back with "search for clutch yields no products".
LMC's transmission screws are NOT clutch head.
They all have clutch head bolts for the box and a few other spots, but none for the xmission screws. I believe they are #14 x 3/4".
Guys, this is very easy if all you want to do is find a binding head sheet metal screw. Heck, I’d just go down to the local hdw. My purpose is to replace the original screws with EXACTLY the same screw that was in there.

BINGO! Thanks tc, long haul for a lousey screw. page 165 has #14-3/4", .75c ea.
Funny that this is the only supplier that has a selection of clutch head screws/bolts.

If you type "clutch" on the Classic Parts of America link and press "Go", the first two items are clutch head bolts.

Here is another try for you at LMC:
http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/ca/0024.html

I have bought clutch-head bolts from all those vendors. Sorry that you are having problems finding them.

Ok Denny, now I'm curious, why don't you want any other screw besides the clutch ?? I have always replaced with Torx or others and never given much thought since I don't see them after matting or carpet. Concours points perhaps ?? Jon

You got it Jon, I’ve always felt like there are two different philosophies when it comes to these, the purest, who strides to maintain absolute factory original and then there is the hot rodder who just wants to personalize his ride. I kind of swing toward the first ideal. I think if you want a street rod there are enough repro parts out there that you could make one and not have to destroy the original examples. I’ll bet there are a lot of guys that insisted on STEEL bodys for there 32-34 Ford street rods that wish they had kept the frames and rolling stock. They would sure be worth more as a cherry vintage car than on the auction block as a street rod.
I'm not planning on entering it in any VCCA events right now, but you never know. So I'm going to try to keep it as original as possible, right down to the screws. A lot depends on how the body turns out next year, after her trip to the make-up artist. I have a very solid one, so my hopes are high.
Sorry Paul, I’ve been posting to so many different messages that I get to thinking this is like down at work where everybody kind of knows what you drive. Its an all stock 1950, Chevy 3604.

I ordered a bag of a 100 clutch head screws (for my interior panels)and the clutch head screw drives from Jim Carter. Also you may want to check some industerial companies. If you remember most commercial bathrooms were put together with them.
