While talking with a guy at work, he mentioned that a family member had an old truck in the shed in North Dakota...He had family E-mail him some pics of the truck and sent them on to me.

Here are some pics of the truck. Based on emblems, it appears to be a 54.

What do you think... should I get into trouble and bring it home?

Front left side

front right side

the old 235

looks like a pretty good dent in the lower pass side grill...maybe a chunk missing

left rear
The inside....nice flower wall paper...but pretty darn good...

I love a nice barn find.

Bring it home......she looks like a "project"! I wish my 54 had looked that good when I started out! That "little" ding in the nose piece will be easy to pop out....the whole grill can be disassembled and the absence of major rust would be a plus.

Your girls will love it!!!!! Hold that thought!

All the glass is intact, only surface rust, no major damage visible, been kept in a barn; sounds like a road trip to me. Why don't you give me the address and I'll look it up on MapQuest for you! grin

And that looks like linoleum to me, not wall paper. Linoleum fits into the metal trim piece that came with the truck originally so it covers all the mechanicals real nice without having to pay for the part and it's real durable. Besides, when they re-did the flooring in the kitchen (from the looks of it, back in the '70s), they probably had some leftover pieces that could be used to cover the holes. That's what the farmer did on my truck - like yours, you can see it in my gallery post too.

Seriously, it looks like a great find. It should be brought back to life by someone even if you pass on it.

Looks like it was last redecorated around 1973. If you look closely, I'll bet you can find some avacado green and harvest gold in there someplace.

Great find, could be original paint / or color... I like the
fact that it still has the front "splash" guard, seems like
someone took care of her ! The radio, is that a stock unit or an older after market unit ! It is going to need a lot of
work but if you have the time & patience go for it & let
all of us know how it turns out !
I think that it might be rarer !!!
The fact that it is only a "3 window" in '54 when everyone
was ordering 5 windows then for visability !

Deluxe Heater

Factory turn-signal control on the steering column (but it has front-fender-mounted lamps)?

Engine could be a 261 because it has a PCV system?

Looks like a nice project.

Compared to the shape my 29 Model A pickup was in (pics on my website in my sig) when I got it, this is a clean one-owner creampuff. smile

Go for it, man. You may never have a chance for a barn-fresh AD again.

All I need to do now is find the space to keep this truck. I've been told by management (the MRS) that NO trucks will be stored on the driveway. I have a line on a shed a few miles away, but I would not want to keep any valuable parts on the truck as they may walk away.

The other obvious issue is determining a fair price and then moving it from ND to MN...

I still like the look of this truck a lot!

When I finished my 53 3100 I told my wife I wanted to buy another project truck. She said "you bring another truck home, you better find another wife".I ask how she would like living with another woman, she didn't think that was very funny.Don't ask just say "it followed me home".

Price is not known yet. I am working on coming up with a fair price for all...it was co-workers granpa's truck. Sentimental value for them and I can understand/respect that. They don't want to give it away, but they also understand it might have limited value due to sitting for so long.

I don't know about you but I have found that it is easier to get forgiveness than it is to get permission. I say go for it!! I found a beauty of a 52 in Amboy MN I'm workin on. The wife says absolutely not but I'm still trying.

I'd like to piggyback on everyone and say go get it!!!!!

I was thinking the same thing as Dustin. "Sometimes its better to ask for forgiveness than permission." If it weren't for that maxim, nothing would ever get done!!!

If you don't grab it someone else will. In fact, if you post the address there'll be a line from there to Jerusalem...

My wife would love for me to get a truck I can at least drive over the '34 I've got waiting it's turn at restoration. If I agreed to do that she'd take the deal in a heartbeat. It probably wouldn't take a lot to get this one on the road.

Family still does not know about selling this truck. Emotional attachment on the part of the owner. The family knows my offer is still out there. The longer it takes, the less trouble I will be in if this truck shows up.

I've got a similar situation with a big bolt, a flatbed COE that belongs to a neighbor about half a mile down the road from my farm. I know it's been in his barn for at least 25 years, maybe longer, with the cylinder head off. I'm trying to work up a package deal for the truck and a D-4 Cat dozer that's sitting beside it. He's gone from an outrageous asking price to "make me an offer", so we're making progress.

I'm also looking at three mid-40's 1-ton Cornbinders at another farm down the road. They've been decorating a fencerow for at least as long as we've been in the neighborhood, (since 1983), and probably much longer.
