I am really going to show my ignorance here. I have a '64 Suburban K10 with a manual 4 speed. My problem is that I am 5'-8" tall and like the seat pushed way back. Thus, it makes depressing the clutch, all the way, difficult. I'm betting there is no way to convert my current trans to one with a hydraulic clutch. Am I correct?

Do you mean a hydraulically actuated clutch? I think the pedal travel would be about the same as a mechanical unit.

I wonder if you are actually talking about a automatic transmission?

You can purchase the early bell houseing I believe 60-62 for a V-8 and it will have the original hydraulic mount on the right side.It would be a direct bolt up if you can find the lines and the master cylinder /clutch cylinder.I went the other way with mine .I didn't like the hydraulic .


In the works 2006 GEN III 6.0 /4L80E/ 205 New process,A/C and power brakes .

Why not make a pedal extension?
I've got a '62 with hydraulic clutch, and you still have to push it way in to engage it.

How about a hydraulic throwout bearing? That would allow changing to a hydraulic system.

But I suspect changing the linkage to raise the pedal might be as easy as changing to a hydraulic system. You'll be changing the linkage either way.

Seriously, though, I think that Stuart is right. Even with a hydraulic clutch, you'd still have the same amount of travel. frown

probably have even more pedal travel, and more pressure would be required to push it, usually. But a hydraulic clutch is cool smile
