It now has 6 cylinder with 3 speed on the colunmn. No disk brakes or power steering. I have located a 1976 chevy with a 350 engine, auto transmission, Power steering and disk brakes. Will all the above swap into a 70 pickup with little or no problems? What about motor and transmission mounts-crossmembers? Thanks any help would be most helpful!! | | |

The rearend you've got now is probably a 4.56. If you like being first to the next light, and filling up every other light not a problem. So look at the 76 rearend and see what it's going to take to swap it. Check the brake booster to see how it is mounted too. The good news is the complete front end should swap over without too much trouble. Drilling a couple holes might be all that is required. my .02 worth.

#21405 03/25/2004 2:40 PM | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 4 Junior Member | | Junior Member Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 4 | I also have a 70 equipped same way. You have most everything you'll need on the newer model. You can swap out the entire front end assemble and bolt it on to you 70.
What your short will be a automatic steering column (unless you use floor shifter), motor mounts, possible tranny kick down assembly from the older style, and depending on the application (tranny, and it's taillength) you may or may not need a driveshaft. It's not too bad, just a few tidbits to address, but not to bad a swap.
