I ATTEMPTED TO FIX BUT BEFORE I STARTED PULLING EVERYTHING APART I WASENT SURE IF I HAD TO TAKE THE CHROME BEZEL OFF AND GET AT FROM THE FRONT or BEHIND THE DASH.IT SEEMS TO BE SEALED BEHIND THE DASH ? any sugestions. ALSO I PURCHASED DRIVE SHAFT BUSHINGS,DRIVE SHAFT SEALS ,BALL SEALKIT FOR DRIVE SHAFT ALL ARE LEAKING ITS GOING TO COST QUITE A BIT TO INSTALL BEING THE REAR HAS TO COME OUT,BUT I WAS TOLD IT CAN STILL LEAK AFTER ALL TIME AND MONEY SPENT. DOES ANY ONE HAVE A LEAK FREE 40 1/2 TON? There are three screws on the back side of the dash that holds the speedometer onto the back of the cluster. Pull those screws and the cable, and you should be good to go.
My 46 is leaky, too. I am going to have to drain the transmission and pull the rear off of my transmission anyway to fix the speedometer drive unit, so I just figured that I'd replace seals and gaskets then. | | |
