its definatly the starter, no bones about it. ive got a 350 block (between 75-81 im not sure) and an 350THM transmission. so basically my question is a two parter... 1 being how many teeth are on my flywheel (i think its 168 but i heard it could be 150 something) and 2 being what kind of starter should i buy, keep in mind im on a tight budget and its a daily drive. id appreciate ANY advice.

Don't know how many teeth but if money is an issue take the starter to a starter/alternator shop for rebuilding. Usualy 25.00 to 30.00.

you might take the starter with you when and if you exchange it,,,,,,,,,,,,,sometimes what you think you have you dont.......and usually they are several to select from even if you have the correct yr of truck.. just my 2 cents

If the armature isn't shot you can put new brushes and bushings in yourself for about $10. I think about all the small block with automatic tranny take the same starter.

I,m with Todd. You can o-haul those youself. Take the cap off the selenoid &clean it up. If the copper term. is worn down loosen the nut & turn it around & use the good side.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.

There's almost always a rebuilt stock heavy-duty starter available from your auto parts store - particularly for the Chevy 350.
